Dr. David L Hartzell
Ophthalmologist
Dr. Hartzell received his biology/pre-med degree through New York’s Houghton College, and earned his medical degree from Penn State Hershey College of Medicine. He completed his residency at the State University of New York in Syracuse. He brings his compassion and attention to detail to his practice, specializing in LASIK surgery, cataract surgery, and comprehensive preventative eye care. He is proud to serve our veterans and, since 1995, has served as a Veteran’s Administration Hospital physician. He is your complete eye care doctor!

 

Dr. Tyler Crouse
Optometrist
Dr. Crouse joined our practice in 2018 and is new to the Carlisle area. He is originally from Iowa, where he attended the Central University of Iowa for his undergraduate degree in biology. Moving to Philadelphia, he attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where he met his wife Alex. He completed a residency in Primary Care & Ocular Disease at Philadelphia’s Eye Institute of Salus University. He enjoys rooting for Iowa’s Hawkeye football team as well as spending time outdoors.

 

Tori Benedict
Interim Practice Manager and Administrative Coordinator
Tori has been with our practice since 2015 and has experience working in different areas of the practice. She lives in Carlisle and has a grown daughter, Sarah. She is currently continuing her education at Harrisburg Area Community College’s Harrisburg Campus, and anticipates her graduation in December 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys attending live music events. Ask her about her LASIK!

 

Mike
Optical Manager
Mike is a veteran optician at Optical Allusions with over 40 years of experience and knowledge. He is a native of Camp Hill and attended Mansfield University. He enjoys participating in vision expo events and keeping up with the latest trends and advancements in opticianry. If you need new eyewear, Mike is the expert who can help pair you with the perfect frames!

 

Diane
Front Desk Assistant
Diane is our front desk assistant and has been with the practice since 2013. She can assist you with scheduling your next eye exam! She is a proud mother and grandmother and is very passionate about her love of animals. She has three horses, four cats, and one dog. She also enjoys helping young animal lovers by serving as a 4H Leader for the Cumberland County 4H Boots & Hooves Club. Ask her about her LASIK!

 

Anita
Billing Supervisor
Anita is our billing supervisor. She has been with the practice since 2015 and has twenty years of experience working in ophthalmology. She lives with her family in Mechanicsburg. Have a question about your insurance? She can assist you!

 

 

Krystle
Front Desk Check-Out
Krystle has been with our practice since 2017 and has worked in the eyecare field since 2012. She attended Susquehanna University and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2010. She enjoys photography, writing, and sewing in her free time. Ask her about her LASIK!

 

Sarah
Office Assistant
Sarah joined our practice in July of 2017 and is a graduate of Shippensburg University. She lives in Carlisle. She enjoys spending time with her two nephews, as well as reading, drawing, and learning to cook new dishes. Ask her about her LASIK!

 

Keirsten
Optician
Kiersten is one of our opticians at Optical Allusions and has been with Hartzell Eye Specialists and Optical Allusions since 2017. She was born and raised in the Carlisle area and has worked in ophthalmology since 2001. She attended Elizabethtown College where she earned a degree in Business/Marketing. Keirsten can help you find a stylish new pair of glasses!

 

Rachel
Technician
Rachel is one of our ophthalmic technicians and joined our team in 2018. She lives in Carlisle and is a single mother of two beautiful children. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix. Outside of work, she loves spending time with family and friends and watching movies.

 

Patty
Front Desk Assistant
Patty joined our front desk staff in November 2018. She lives in Newville with her husband and extended family. Patty loves spending time with her eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, seven horses, and five dogs. She also volunteers for the Cumberland County Boots & Hooves 4H Club.

 

Amanda B.
Technician
Amanda joined Hartzell Eye Specialists in 2018 and is one of our ophthalmic technicians. She received her certification from the American Board of Opticianry in 2015. She spends her time away from work enjoying fitness and interior design. She is the fur mom of a dog named Bailey. Ask her about her LASIK!

 

Kylie
Technician
Hartzell Eye Specialists welcomed Kylie to the practice as an ophthalmic technician in 2019. She attended Harrisburg Area Community College to study Exercise Science. Outside of work, she enjoys ice hockey, working out, and spending time with family and friends. She loves shopping at TJ Maxx and considers herself a “maxxinista.” She has an adorable dog named Finley Jack who never leaves her side.

 

Amanda Nesbit
Surgical Scheduler
Amanda joined Hartzell Eye Specialists as the surgical scheduler in 2019. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services and has worked in ophthalmology since 2015. She is the proud mother of three kids. In her free time, she enjoys photography and spending time with her children. Amanda will help answer your questions about surgery!

 

Todd
Front Desk Check-in
Hartzell Eye Specialists welcomed Todd to the practice in 2019. When he is not manning the front desk, he enjoys spending time with his wife Toni and daughter Raiyen. He enjoys hands on crafts like jewelry-smithing, resin furniture crafting, and spray-art painting. His favorite way to relax is in the kitchen cooking for his loved ones.
